It's been over 35 years since I read that book. . . I think you might have had to read it then. When there was nothing like it and Vietnam and "the counterculture" were still very, very present.
Yes, I remember reading it as a teenager in the early 70's and being wowed. Now I remember nothing about it. Might be interesting to read it again.
